vanishing screen

My FURUNO 1623 loses the screen contrast 30-90 minutes into each session of use.
The information is still there, I can see it if I get really close, but almost no contrast at all.
Sometimes it comes back on again, sometimes not.
Ideas or similar experience, anyone?
Low voltage?

It appears to be an LCD backlighting problem. The LCD most likely needs replacement. Please contact a local authorized Furuno dealer to inquire about evaluation/repair.
