swapping r99 for r109lhw

Any tips for removing the existing plastic and rubber wafers in the thru hull on my r99 so i can install the 109lhw?

also can u verify the tap settings are C for LF and A for hf?

Ok the 109lhw is in.
after setting the tap should i factory reset it or just use my existing settings?
what should the freq settings and bandwith settings be?
is there anything else i need to do?

Teffy,
The R99 was a 50/200khz 2kw transducer with a narrow HF side. The R109 is 2kw on the LF with a wide 1kw on the HF side. You can try it with your current settings but most likely will find it will performance better using lower frequencies. The band width control doesn't affect performance as it is the range you are able to adjust the main frequency. So if you set the frequency at 50Khz you will be able to set the Band width to 25Khz, which (depending on what sounder) would allow you to adjust the frequency +12.5Kkz & -12.5khz or from 37.5 to 62.5Khz.

wondering if i could set the hf side to a bandwidth of 100 to use the full frequency range on that side of the transducer

Teffy,
The FCV-295 is blocked from working in three different frequency ranges; 52-65, 111-139 and 171-183Khz. So if you set the HF to 200khz the lowest you will be able to go is 183Khz. If you want to go lower I suggest resetting the frequency to 151Khz and then you will be able the check the frequencies from 139 to 171Khz.
