Interfacing NavNet VX2 to Coastal Explorer PC

I wish to connect my existing Furuno NavNet vx2 system to a Windows PC running Coastal Explorer. Is this as simple as using the Furuno p/n 000-159-705 PC Adaptor Cable (RJ45 to 6-pin)?

No that cable is for a network connection which Coastal Explorer can not understand.

Normally you would wire the basic NMEA output data to the PC with something like part number USB-7PN-CBL. This would allow data from the Vx2 into the USB port of the PC for the software to use.

I currently have Nobeltec running on a PC and networked to VX2 via a hub. It receives GPS and sounder data. Will this connection also work seamlessly for CE?

I doubt it, but that would be would be a question for the coastal explorer folks.
