RD-30 to NavNet 1

Is it possible to connect an old RD-30 to NavNet 1 so as not to connect the RD 30 directly to the sensors? If so will it repeat the data without powering up the NavNet unit?

The RD-30 will repeat NMEA 0183 data when connected to the NavNet 1 through an NMEA output port. However the NavNet must be on to send the messages.
