Linking FCV800 to GP1971

Hi, looking for info on getting waypoints to appear of my GP1971f when I press the mark button on the FCV800, coming from a humminbird where you can scroll to a fish and press mark then it appears on your gps screen, I was a bit surprised that these furuno’s don’t seem to be able to do it. I’ve got both units connected via NMEA2000. Is there some I’m missing? It seems to me that creating the mark on the gp1971f takes too long and wouldn’t be accurate by the time you’ve got it created due to the boat constantly moving. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the reply, with NMEA0183, is it as simple as connecting the wires on each unit together or do I need get any additional parts?
Further to this question, the reason I connected via NMEA2000 is to later add a satellite compass to the FCV800. Can I have both 0183 and 2000 connected to devices and use them simultaneously?

Yes, follow the interconnect diagrams and connect the TD A and B to the RD A and B. Then ensure the NMEA 0183 port on the FCV800 is set to transmit the TLL sentence. You might need to ensure the baud rates and NMEA versions match in the port settings between the two units as well.

Yes. Both data protocols are independent of each other. Using one does not disable the other.
