DRS2D-NXT No Radar Message

Have an issue with my TZT3 and DRS2D-NXT. I occasionally get the No Radar message.

I can tell you it’s not a power issue or Ethernet. All connections are solid. I know this because if I turn it off, remove the radar inline fuse, wait thirty seconds, then replace fuse and reconnect it detects and sweeps with no issues. It stays on and working until it’s put in standby or unit is turned off. It may or may not repeat the problem. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Have walked away fine and comeback next week to the error message. Fuse never blows and there seems to be no pattern to it.

The boat sat unused for few months but had been fine. Could the radome be stuck? Odd issue. Can’t seem to figure it out.

It sounds like the radar should be evaluated for repair. If it stops talking like that and recycling fixes it, it sounds like an electronic component issue that should be easily be duplicated based on your finding. If in North America, I would recommend sending it in via RMA obtained from www.FurunoUSA.com - Support - RMA

Tech found water intrusion. Have no idea how water got in. Seal intact. Boat is hose wash/scrub brush only. Did have gale wind with a lot of rain when problem started.

A year out of warranty with low transmit hours. Tech installed new tx/stb and power boards at a substantial discount over retail. Pays to buy Furuno. Any other manufacturer would have hosed me-

Bottom line cycling it wasn’t the hottest of ideas.

Water intrusion isn't factory defect so good that they are helping you out with it. Dome radars need to be up in the upright (operational) position even during storage to ensure the breather doesn't take in water. Be careful if you run a hinged mast or lay it on its side. Even with shrink wrap condensation water can form on the underside of the wrap and make its way into a dome that isn't properly in position.
