DFF3D Combo Pocket Mount Transducer installation location

Since there will be a giant hole cut in the bottom of the vessel to install this...I want to be darn sure to get it right...

The boat is a 45 Cabo express with twin cat diesels.

There is an existing R509LH faring mount transducer about 5 feet forward of the shaft seals on the port side. There are other through hulls in the same location on the starboard side.

I am assuming the best spot is going to be forward of all these penetrations to reduce turbulence. It will be directly in-line with the keel

I am however worried that this may be TOO far forward. This location is just about mid-ship. See picture for approx location.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys...

Got it working
I think your post about getting it working, has everyone thinking you have solved your problem/question.

What do think about his transducer location planning?

Sorry, I meant I got the pictures working!

I am still looking for help on the transducer location!

Clayt,
Since there are a couple of combination transducers which one do you have?

Clayt,
At first glance, it is more forward than optimal. But without seeing more close up pictures of the hull it's hard to offer any other advice.

I have two fairing block transducers on my Cabo 32 in about the same position as yours. I wouldn’t mount anything further forward than that as I think it’s likely you’ll get too much turbulence, especially with a flush mount, when cruising at any decent speed. My read well up until about 22-23 knots when performance starts to drop away drastically.

I would think the red arrow a more appropriate location. Should be right under the battery box, just forward of the engines on the keel line etc...
