12KW Compatible with RDP-152 or RDP-118

My friend has a 1832 Radar with a RDP-118. I have an RDP-152 1945 radar.

I have a RSB-0072 12KW radar and the psu power supply that was originally connected to an RDP-149 VX2 machine.

Can you connect the RSB-0072 12KW to an RDP-152 or an RDP-118? I know it most likely would work in theory, but is there tuning issues etc?

I assumed the radar processor in the VX2 was at least similar to the RDP-152.

Thanks

Pete

You have like three systems you are speaking about here. The Vx2 12KW would be the 1954C which uses the RSB0072-060 with the PSU005 power supply in the middle. The RDP152 (display for the 1835,1935, and 1945 radars) maxes out at 6kw (1945) and not designed to work with the PSU005. You can experiment at your own risk but it isn't designed to run that gearbox even if you use the power supply (which changes the 12v tuning ramp of the Vx2 to 32v ramp for that more powerful connected gearbox).

Thank you for your response. I know they are all different systems, but I like to complicate things. I wondered if they could be mixed together or if anyone has ever tried. I always wondered how much of what works with what was marketing verse if the machines could actually do it. I know many things that weren't made to work together did. I am sure there was limitations people may not been aware were happening.

I believe the RSB0072-60 is also supposed to work with FR7112, but did not require the PSU-005?

It was/is a direct connection for the FR7112 which has that needed 32v tuning ramp. It used with the FR7112 and then with the 1953C (NN1) and 1954C (Vx2) via the PSU005 (which provides the needed power and tuning ramp translation). While not supported, if the 1945 radar display were used with the PSU005, it most likely would work but not get the advantage of the full range of power it is designed for. The 1945 software would be restricted to the 6kw range. As long as the wiring is pinned out properly, it shouldn't blow up but that isn't a combination most would be looking for (dumbing down a 12kw to a 6kw).
