Wires into contrl box... how to do it?

In need of help:

I have a wired Furuno remote control (Fap 7021) with a connector at the end. The connector must be chopped off, says the manual (...), and the wires (6) are then connected directly to a (Wago-) connector inside the control unit (Fap 7002).

I think I know where to plug the six individual color coded wires in (... a place called TB13...).

But...... I just do not know which wire goes where. Hours of googling has not revealed a digram with explanation or color codes.

Anyone knows? Tips greatly apreciated.

You would NOT wire to TB13. This is not a normal dumb remote (like FFU or NFU) it is a control head and should wire to TB8. If you already have other control units on TB8, you would use the second control channel (B) of TB8. If using that second channel you must also change the jumper J104 as described in the manual on page 2-2.

You either have to chop off the connector or use the FAP7822 Junction box. When wiring it would be done exactly like page S-1 (Interconnection Diagram) at the back of the manual shows.

Just a followup, in case someone sees this thread... The page in the manual with the "Interconnection Diagram" seems to be missing in (most, if not all) online PDF-versions of the manual. Dont know why. But: Anyone in need of this page may want to google it as a stand alone file - then it can easily be found. In case Johnny is having a day off.
 
Sorry for reviving this old thread just wondering how to solve my need. I still have a 7002 and a 711 control head + a FAP-7021 directly wired to the 7002. The 711 is inside and the 7021 remote is outside. Just wondering if there would be any way to make it "disconnectable" so i can connect it from either down below or up on the bridge. Assuming it would never be disconnected while the autopilot is on.

Since these used 7021 are very hard to find.. it would provide me a great service to have it movable.

The 720 control head has a control bus terminator built in. Because of that it is designed to be the end of either BUS-A or BUS-B to end the bus. You can't easily disconnect it because it would also remove the needed bus terminator. The 720 control head is designed to stay physically connected to the processor.
 
But isn't the goal of the FAP-7822 to permit connection and disconnection of a single FAP7021 to 2 physical places ? Or I am missing something ?

I found an image of the FAP-7822 on internet. 2 of them are needed and there is discussion of a connectable resistor also.

Can someone shed some light on this please ?

There is a difference in turning off and moving a pre-terminated control head and running the pilot with other heads with an open bus when the 720 head (which hasn't been sold in years) has been removed opening the bus. As a very old post, I don't think the OP is still concerned about this. Are you looking at adding something like this? How many heads does yours have and how are you intending to use it?
 
There is a 711 control head in the cockpit (outside) and a FAP-7021 (inside) at the nav station directly wired to the 7002.
The boat is 99.9 % on the time on the autopilot. Since when we are sailing we are about 5-6 feet away from the 711 in the cockpit, when the boat is heeled and bouncing in waves its not prudent to stand up to get to the 711 to do a correction. Having a 7021 wired in the cockpit would permit us to have it at hand where we are seated.

What i could do is :
1-Install a 7822 inside at the nav station connected to the original connector of the 7021. Terminated with the supplied resistor when not in use
2-Daisy connect the 7021 to the outside 711 (removing the resistor on the second socket) prior to start the 7002.

Would that work assuming no connect/disconnect while the autopilot is on ?

Is it possible to get replacement round connectors, i think the end of the 7021 has been fitted with a square connector to fit on the 7002?
 
You shouldn't open the bus with the pilot turned on. Any changes to the bus(es) should be done with the unit powered off. Yes as long as you keep the bus A and B properly terminated and jumpered for what you have connected it would work. Unterminated or open buses wouldn't be recommended. By the sound of it your 720 control head has been wired directly to the processor via one of the square wagos. To restore the proper 7 pin round connector you would need either a control cable from the dealer to splice onto the cable or order a field attachable connector. Furuno doesn't carry the connector but you can buy it from someplace like Digi-Key (p/n 1754-1403-ND).
