Waypoint name display on Furuno 1670

Periodically the names of my waypoints disappear. I can find them in the system and select go to without a problem, but the names of all of them many times are not on the screen. The points are there but are nameless. After 3 years w/out a problem this began about a month ago.

You might have disabled the names. Check the instructions below:

That was the first thing I tried. As we fish throught the day sometimes the names will appear, then usually will go away later.

This is a mystery. Maybe it is based on your range where all your waypoints are compressing on each other and the names are removed so they don’t clutter. You check that you have the most current software and open an official support case. I would recommend you send a video of the issue to support.

Does this unit need regular updates? Are the waypoints saved on the Furuno unit or on the Jeppeson C-map card? A video is difficult because the problem is intermittent. The Point names will appear for several hours, then disappears for days or weeks. I can find the points in the system and select go to without a problem, but the name of the waypoint will not be visable.
