Issues with 2 TZTouch 2 MFD

After 45 years of operating larger boats with Garmin and Simrad electronics, this is my first experience with Furuno products. I have a 2018 Intrepid with 200 total hours. Both of my 15” TZTouch 2 screens are defective. They have developed a 1/8” light brown boarder around the screens. This is not normal as I have seen other like units with much higher hours of usage without this issue. Both screens appear to be a burning around the edge. This boat has been stored in a building all power turned off and the MDF units have OEM covers. The helm is not exposed to sunlight when in use thanks to a hard top and full enclosure. Furuno wants me to remove both units and ship them to upstate Washington. I would gladly pay to have a local Furuno dealer evaluate the screens and report what they see. I was told these screens are no longer available or repairable but no one can tell me if there is a fix for this issue I am not interested in spending many thousands of dollars to replace both defective Furuno MDF units. and would rather move to another brand. Can anyone let me know if they have had this issue and what they did to correct it short of replacement?
 
Hi Marc, Sorry to hear about your concern. This forum is not the place to appeal what you were told directly by your Furuno distributor whether in the USA or elsewhere. Hearing that you have 7 year old units outside of warranty, which you are the original owner, and only driven to church on Sunday; it would be more productive to appeal your case directly to the service manager of your Furuno distributor. Many times they can provide extra considerations but starting your first forum post in the court of public opinion isn't a great way to obtain special consideration for units outside of warranty.
