TZT2 sounder

Hi team,

I know this topic has been raised several times, but I’m still a little confused. Im in process of fitting a TZT2 15 and DFF3D with a B54 to my 23’ fishing boat. I fish in water mostly around 100’, I’m not sure what transducer to fit. I have a new pair of SS264W’s, will they work with Rezboost? Would the B260 or TM260 be a better choice? I already have a B164 fitted that was coupled to my old 285. I have also been told a SS175HW will do the job.

I’m happy to spend the money on another transducer, just want the best combination.

Dougp,
The SS175HW is a single high frequency Chirp transducer. In theory you could connect it to the TZT2 to get the high side to work, but your are taking away the sounders LF frequency. You could use a pair of SS264's if you have them, however a B-260 is a better choice in my opinion.

Hi Snips,

Thanks for your response. I do have a pair of SS264W’s that I purchased for another project a long time ago, but never used them. I would benefit from the wider cone angle than the B260, but would I be able to use Rezboost and Bottom Discrimination if use them. If I did go with a new transducer, can I use the TM260?

While you could use a pair of SS264 or a TM-260 both are going to be subject to turbulence. At that reason I would lean towards using a B-260. Sad that Airmar doesn't make the B-270 anymore.

Hi Snips,

After reviewing my mounting options I’m going to struggle to fit the B260 without fouling on the trailer. Will the TM260 work and utilise all the TZT2 features? If mounted correctly will I get good performance from the TM?

And back to the SS264’s, will Rezboost and BD work with them?

Sorry to be a pain mate. Can you clarify that Rezboost and BD will work with the SS264W’s? And when you say reduced performance for both the TM260 and SS264W’s, you are referring to the mounting options, ie no fairing block?

How well a transducer works is equal to how well the water is flowing over it/them. Will your two choices work, yes they will. How well is going subject of water flow. One other thought to consider is that the Bottom Discrimination and ACCU-FISH modes were designed for using a transducer that had both 50 & 200Khz elements in the same housing. This means that the beams would over lap. If you used a pair of 264's the beams are side by side and could be mounted in a way that the beams are actually looking different directions.
