TZT12F DEPTH UNITS SETTING

I have just upgraded to software version 2.01, reset to factory defaults and set up my TZT12F again. I have set the depth units to metres in the units menu in settings, however the depth defaults back to feet when the unit restarts.

Any ideas of how to set the default depth units to metres. All other unit settings remember their setting.

That is really odd. Over the years, I have saw a similar problem when someone has set up the dip switches wrong on the sounder. You might check the dips on the DFF3D for anything odd.
When you factory reset after the last programming; did you do the sounder hardware reset first before doing the full factory unit reset? With the firmware changes to the sounder, you really need to, if it wasn't done.

I spoke too soon! Unfortunately. The unit defaults to feet each time it is turned on. Could other devices connected through NMEA 2000 change the setting by any chance ?

We recently have been doing some testing. We believe it might be caused by changing of the setting and then almost immediately turning off the unit or by restoring old v6 user settings that don't match up correctly.

I recommend clearing the unit, restoring only the points/routes and setup by hand and create a new v7 user setting backup. Then if changing the measurement units settings, ensure you wait 2 or more minutes before powering down. (so the system has needed time to ensure the change is saved to nonvolatile memory)

Hello. I have the same problem. I updated the tzt3 to v2 and every time I restart the tzt3 it is in feet. Curiously, when I use the tzt3 in my other MFD TZT2 in the latest version it keeps in meters. Could it be because I have the TZT2 on chartmaster? But when I turn the TZT3 on by itself it restarts in feet!

Loftus are you also running a mixed system?

Igna_78, did you try the other suggestions about the factory reset after programming and not using the previous user settings?

I made the initial recommendations and entered the user data. As I always connect the tzt3 and tzt2 I do not have the problem that it happens to me. I think that having the tzt2 chatmaster takes the mamdo. I have observed that I have loss of pitch and roll sensor from the SCX20 with this configuration.

Hi Johnny,

I have TZT12F only connected to a TM 265LH, DFF3D and Tm54 . It is connected through NMEA to the SCX20, and Mercury engine, gauge, fusion and Mercury first mate. The Mercury gauge is a Simrad go9 rebadged as Mercury.

If you have tried the actions I recommended; i would advise working with tech support. They might want to collect data from your system. We have been unable to duplicate the issue with good user data after a unit has been cleared.

I also have noticed that my transducer draft for internal fish finder and multi beam sonar are resetting to zero after unit is restarted.

Good morning gentlemen, I'm a beginner here.

I have the same problem in maintaining meters in my only NavNET3 installed TZT3-12F.

All systems have been updated, including the following:

DFF3D, DI-FFAMP (R509LH),
SCX-20, and NavPilot 300

Thanks

There is some commonality in either the operational steps being taken or some bug with the software that yet to be discovered/duplicated. We haven’t been able to duplicate this but I am sure eventually we will. I will say again, it is best to open a support case directly with support so the information on each system can be collected, documented and studied to see why most don't have this issue and others do. If the prior steps suggested haven’t worked for you, please contact support an open an official support case with your Furuno distributor for whichever country you live.

Yes. and problem persists. I just updated the Spanish version of v2 and it has the same problem. I have realized that having linked a tzt2 (chart master) or linked professional timezero the problem of marking feet in depth at the beginning is corrected and it marks me meters.

Yes. I tried to reset and it didn't work. as I always run a mixed system with TZT3-TZT2 (chartmaster) -TZ professional the problem of restarting in feet I do not have. Simply add that suggestion. As for the problems with the SCx-20 I have to investigate further because the TZ sensor data stops transmitting momentarily although I do not see problems with the bathymetry.

The parent company said the next version of software will be better at dealing with the units settings than the current. Hopefully the few that have been seeing this issue will resolve with the next version of software.
