Swapping Navpilot 711c for Navpilot 300

I have a Navpilot 711c on my defiance 22'. The lower portion of the screen is damaged (blacked out), so only the upper half of the screen is visible. Lately, I've also been getting a lot of "rudder drive fail" errors. I have to power off the unit and power it back on for it to work. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for the rest of the trip. I am usually trolling at 7-8knots. I was planning on running the dockside setup again to see if this resolves the issue but since my screen is damaged, I would have a difficult time seeing what I am doing.

I thought about buying a new 711c control unit. My question is, would I be able to purchase
a navpilot 300 and simply swap the control units without needing to purchase anything else?

There is no compatibility with the 711c processor and Navpilot 300 control heads. You would need to order the FAP7011A contol head and hopefully some of the other errors happening are being cause by the partially broken control head.
