No Fantum Feedback option for Navpilot 300

I am attempting to initialize my NavPilot 300 with PUMPOCT16-12 in my 27' single inboard diesel with Seastar steering.

When setting up the ship's characteristics menu, Fantom Feedback was not an option for rudder sensor. The software constantly defaults to RRU.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a software update?

Thanks.

No. Single inboard diesel.

I was told by several people including the dealer that I didn't need an RRU.

The manual also doesn't specify that it won't work with an inboard.

Any thoughts?

Im really confused - in this thread I got this response - Fantom Feedback Single Diesel

There are other threads where Downeast boat owners saying their RRU failed, and they have had success using Fantom Feedback Inboard Diesel using FF

I am not opposed to installing an RRU its just a serious pain in the ass with the lack of mounting places I have in the boat.

Just looking for a definitive answer on whether it will or wont work without an RRU.

And if it will work whats the procedure - set the boat up as an outboard in the vessel characteristics? or is there another procedure.

Thanks for your help with this.

Officially inboards must have an RRU (same for the 711C). The NP300 pilot is focused around center consoles and rare to see many inboards go with the NP300 but totally doable but with an RRU. Inboards can get by "unofficially" if you lie to the pilot as say it is an outboard. The performance might not be the best depending many factors. The other thread was discussed that you had a small 27ft boat so it should work fine, but yes in the setup you must lie to it because outboard setting will expect to see an RRU.

Thanks,

When trying to set it up as an outboard it consistently failed the setup test.

I just ordered the FAP6112.

Thank you again for your explanations.
