Remote Power switch TZT9

I’m trying to wire a remote momentary power switch to the multi cable on a TZT9. Using purple + and brown GND but no luck. Switch is showing 13 volts when pressed but TZT doesn’t turn on. Any suggestions?

Disregard my last. The purple and brown go directly to the momentary switch. No 12v insertion.
