r399 not in tank

Hi Guys,
Is there any reason not to use a r399 as a keel, pocket mount or make a faring block?
I understand it is planned as a shoot through hull in most cases but I am Ali so cant do this.

More as I can get my hands on one but before a cut a mount into the hull wanted to see if it would be a dud of a idea?

I would check with Airmar or Gemeco on this as they are the manufacturer of that transducer.
I have always used each transducer for its designated purpose.
