Nav Net VX2 Sounder Settings

I have a Nav Net VX2 with a 1kw transducer. It does not seem to be working well when trolling. I have tried to use it with the SPD Sensing PRR. I really only use the sounder when I am going 10knots or less. What picture advance speed should I use. I have the clutter on off and the single level in off also. I adjust the gain according to how fast I am going and how rough it is. Let me know what would be the ideal setting for this. Is there anything other settings that I need to adjust. Thanks Mark

Mark,
Personally I like a screen advance of 1/1. I have tried using the Speed Sensing PRR but in the end have all ways gone back to using a TX Rate of 20. It is very hard for me to say set your Gain at "X", Clutter at "Y" and your picture is going to be perfect. The best thing to do is to post a screen shot using both frequencies along with the settings that you are currently using. This will give me a better idea of what setting suggestions may be helpful for you.

Thanks for the reply. I will set it at 1/1. I adjust the gain according to how fast I am going. I should be good to go. Thanks Mark

Mark,
You shouldn't have to adjust your gain depending on the vessels speed. If speed is affecting the sounders performance then that points to a water flow issue going over the face of the transducer. If you decreasing the gain you are decreasing the sounders ability to detect fish.
