It should will work for normal sounder operations but NOT bottom discrimination. NO in-hull transducer works for the bottom discrimination feature. A Raymarine/Airmar M260 transducer should work fine if you change the cable connection (for normal sounding operations) as long as it has an internal diplexer. It would be best if you can provide the Airmar part number off of the cable label so we can help determine compatibility.
Yes; the transducer (see Airmar wiring diagram: http://www.airmartechnology.com/uploads ... 91_782.pdf) has the required diplexer and will work with the Furuno Black box units DFF1 or BBDS1 or some standalone sounders (LS4100, LS6100, FCV627, FCV587). You would have to properly wire on the Furuno 10 pin connector to your transducer. (Using pigtail cable P/N AIR-033-333)
No, you do not need the MB100 matching box with that transducer.
Since you can't conduct bottom discrimination with the BBDS1; I would recommend the DFF1. As I stated before; in-hull transducers cannot be used for the bottom discrimination feature. In your case the BBDS1 will work much like the DFF1 but will cost more.
