M260 - 525-IHD Transducer

Hi,

I just found the cable for my transducer where it enters the top of the rubberized encasement was frayed. All the small wire conductors are intact, only the outer bare conductor is broken. There is only a short (~1/4") of a few strands sticking out of the top of the transducer. Will the transducer work without this outer bare conductor connected? I'm assuming this bare conductor is a ground.

You should be OK. The only way to really tell is to try it and check the sounders performance.
