Loosing GPS signal TZtouch2

Hi, last week I have lost the internal GPS signal three times. After 2-10 minutes it has come back. What can be wrong? I use the internal GPS. Fred

If the unit is inside a closed cabin inside a console, using the internal GPS is bound to be intermittent and an external GPS would be recommended. Has this been something that on an open cabin and working and just now started giving you trouble? What is the history?

Thank. The TZ is outside and has worked without GPS problems for many years. Once or twice a year it «reboot» without any warning, I dont know why.

Rebooting can be caused by lots of things from bad user data, bad chart card, bad power, bad grounding, grounding loops, bad NMEA 2000 instancing, and network noise. Noise on the boat would also affect GPS and noise problems don't intend to get better.

You might take the unit away from the boat with the power cable and test it off a power supply while noting the GPS HDOP from the sat status screen. Then put it back in place on the boat and check the HDOP. (HDOP=lower number the better) If you find a large difference in value, there may be a noise issue on the boat as @Sparky Wire suggests. If the value is not good either location, then the GPS sensor might have a problem and it might need to visit a service center to be evaluated for repair.

I still have the problem. I disconnected the NK2 cable to isolate TF from external sensors but still the internal GPS did not aquire a single sat. for a while, before aquiring the sat. as normal. Is the hardware setup like that an external GPS has to be routet through the internal GPS E.g. If fault with the internalisert GPS the same fault will occour for If switching to the external GPS. Garmin had that setup on a MFD.

Are there any internal battery that can cause problem.

What is safe distanse from GPS to external mobile/wifi booster antenna? and other standard WiFi routers and mobile routers.
Thanks Fred

Wifi and Cell boosters are way powerful and shouldn't be anywhere close to any Receiving GPS, SAT Compass, or Sirius Radio antenna. Sometimes there is no place on a boat SAFE when someone has a booster blasting RF. If the front end amp of the sensor is blown it doesn't get better, its blown. There is no battery in the TZT2 units. The unit would most likely need to come in for repair to fix the internal GPS.
