Installing TZT3, DFF3D, SCX20 w/ Transom mount - need tips

So, I am going to have to install this myself, there is no one in my area that will do this for me.

Are there in glaringly obvious things I should consider and have ready to go, I am about 60 miles from a town with parts when I go to install. So any tips or help, any extra items I may need would be greatly appreciated. This is going on a 2000 2670 Glacier Bay Isle Runner.

One question I do have is this: the tzt3 comes with a 1kw echo, I bought the 165t-tm54 for the dff3d, do I need to buy another transom mount for the tzt3 echo? Do I really need one, or will the dff3d work fine? I plan on bottom fishing in 50-80 feet of water.

Thanks!

You might want to consider a High freq CHIRP transducer for operations in such shallow waters for getting better look at the targets and bottom. The DFF3D multi-beam sonar is the big broom for searching for targets but I still recommend a sounder.

sailence,

If you are going to conduct the installation of these units yourself, just be sure to read all the product manuals very carefully. The manuals cover installation of the equipment pretty well, and if you have problems you can always call Furuno's Tech Support.

The depth of the water that you plan on fishing is relatively shallow, and the DFF3D will have no problems whatsoever working that depth. The DFF3D can operate out to 984 ft straight down, and 658 ft on the corners of it's 120 degree beam width. So if you need to operate any deeper than that, then you might want to add a lower frequency transducer to reach those deeper ranges with the TZT3's Internal Fish Finder. :think
