High gain needed

I have to turn gain all the way up to receive suitable target returns on my 1932 Mark 2 radar. What is the likely repair? Thanks!!

That would be "weak or missing targets". The most likely cause is the magnetron. The tech can check the magnetron using a procedure "check magnetron current" to begin the troubleshooting process to verify.

Or you can send us the transceiver (T/R unit) from the gearbox (4 bolts hold it into the bottom of the gearbox) to be checked by Furuno USA.

Please send the unit to the Camas, WA Service Department. The address is:

Furuno USA, Inc.
Attn: Repairs
4400 NW Pacific Rim Blvd.
Camas, WA 98607

Please attach your name, your contact information, and the reason you are sending the unit in for repair/evaluation.

Camas phone: (360) 834-9300 (M-F, 8-5 Pacific time)

Thank you for replying. If it turns out to be the magnetron, what is the estimated replacement cost?

Thanks again!

You would need to get with your dealer. The Furuno service center doesn't do estimates by e-mail or telephone. They must evaluate the item. They have a $135 evaluation fee that is waived if you repair the unit. Repairs are parts plus labor. List price for the 1932Mk2 Magnetron (part) is $575.
