Help! SCX-20 Heave compensation not working on TZT Touch XL 10x so PBG not correct.

Hi all,
I have a NavNet TZtouch XL 10x and a 165T-50/200-SS260 DFF3D 50/200 Stainless Combination Thru-Hull transducer, Module DFF3D and SXC-20
the TZT MFD has the lastest firmware 25.21, DFF3D and SCX-20 too.

When I config the TZT SCX 230 is detected though NMEA2000 and I can configure it internally under his specific menu. I have put some degree compensation on the pitch and roll to make it right but even having the heave compensation activated I cannot see it working. so at the end I have my doubts that all my PBG is wrong as it didnt compensate the waves. I ve checked all the manuals and I can´t find where is the issue. I´m attaching several screenshots to see my config and see if someone that has been on same situation can help me. in the sonar view it´s clear that the heave is not working at all as the bottom seabed is with waves.

Any Ideas?

The motion sensor settings must be done in the "Multi Beam Sonar" menu and the FishFinder internal sounder.

Refer to the Installation manual for the Fishfinder setup procedures and turn on "Heaving Correction". The Internal sounder is not used for PBG, PBG strictly uses the DFF3D.

From what I can tell the picture in the second row, column 1 is the setting for the DFF3D. The bow/stern is set to zero, is that accurate?

The second row column 2 and 3 are the internal sounder. That is the one I suspect the setting in the FishFinder menu for HEAVING CORRECTION needs to be set to ON.

Thank you so much @Sparky Wire I didn´t knew they released that update and looking on the changes it may be the problem I have is due to don't have that update? It´s weird as I noticed on a photo I´ve done this summer in August it seems I have already that firmware on the DFF3D? Is it possible? attached a screenshot.

It can get confusing as the there is the boot loader and FPGA software as well as the version of main software. It does appear that you might have 1.06 and while they just updated the sensor update, the software could have been out for awhile and they were just updating the update package, or they updated the software and forgot to increment the version. It is hard to say so I would reprogram it regardless to see if it might help.

thank you @Titanic II in the menu of Multibeam sonar inside initial setup/transducer setup in motion sensor source we have selected SC. no external KP is activated.

In Settings / Fishfinder/User settings we have the heave correction activated. and the fishfinder soudner we have seleted the TZTXFF (MF252132) so I understnad everything is allright. er are going to update the sensor update following @Sparky Wire recommendation. thank you both!

Hi Again. We´ve tried to update the DFF3D but after updating it seems it was all the same. attaching 2 screenshots one before the installation with the pen drive plugged and after the installation I´ve rebooted and I see exactly the same so I understand I already got the update in August. ( the DFF3D was bough this May 2025. Can someone confirm that it didn´t ugrade anything? Even like this we proceed to upgrade and nothing new regarding the heave correction. It's not working... any guesses what could be wrong?

The DFF-3D software version shown in your photo as "current" is the same one that is in the November 2025 sensor update file so it would not have been updated when you ran the sensor update.

You are certain that the heaving output on the SCX-20 is set up correctly?

Have you tried configuring the motion sensor in the DFF-3D transducer and using it as the source of heaving correction to see if that works? It is probably somewhat less accurate but it will certainly smooth things out.

Hi @Quitsa thanks for your message. We didnt´try this option as we bought sensor SXC20 only for having a better experience during the recording of the PBG. I understand the sensor of DFF3D is far worse compared to the precision of the SCX20. Dioes someome have a step to step manual on how to setup the scx20 correctly? I followed the manual and it´s not complex specially if we have a TZT XL that is connected on the network. we acess to the menu of the SCX 20 and setup all properly yo can see it in the screenshots sahred on first shot. SCX is regognised perfectly and we use is as source on the trasnducer and inside DFF3D setup. Heave correction is activated too but forw hat we see it´s not working properly. We´ve contacted Furuno Spain to ask for help as we spend many weeks trying to figure out but we can´t. Let´s see if someone that has a similar setup can help us or the support team. thank you! Maybe you need some specific screenshots of some menus to make sure we don´t miss anything?
thanks everyone!

There is a document on the Furuno USA website that explains how input the measurements for position of the SCX-20 so you can verify that your setup was done correctly. https://furunousa.com/-/media/sites...ch_info/dff3d_offset_measurement_examples.pdf

The internal sensor in the DFF-3D transducer works pretty well for heaving compensation. I think it might be worth trying, which would enable you to confirm that the issue is with the setup of the SCX-20 if you are seeing heave compensation using the transducer.
