I currently bought a gp1971f my old school 7000f finally retired.
Im using the same thru hull transducer but having a hard time making sure im pairing new unit with older transducer. I think I have a 525t-bsd, but previous owner swears it was a 1kw transducer.
How do I exactly know what transducer i have? There is no tag and markings on cable are no help. Cable says "airmar".

I did hook it up and test it , need to fine tune it more, but second question. Would i ruin the transducer if I choose a 1kw setting on the 1971? Like if I picked b258 on the 1971?

Choosing a 1kW setting for a 600W transducer can cause damage.
Can you post some photos of the transducer, both the wet and dry side, with measurements? We can probably narrow down some options for you.

Think I got it down!!!! Reads whole lot better then 1st trip..

This old girl did me well fornmany years..caught me tons of fish. It stood by me in thru the best days and many bad days. But I had to retire her cause she wasn't stable anymore

I had the GP7000F on a previous boat and really liked it. People like to hate on it because of the old CMap user interface but it was a solid machine for me. Though, I did not get to enjoy it as long as you did yours.
