Aloha
Ive got a B258 transducer currently installed on my boat connected to a GP1850F works good but want to upgrade to the FCV-800. The B258 has a 10 pin Furuno connector but its actually a hummingbird unit part# 41-456-2-01 it just has a match cable. Anyway before I buy the 800 can anyone tell me if my current transducer will work and if so which transducer model would I select in the system menu when installing it. I can't find a similar one in the menu (50/200-1T)?. I know I will loose some of the features like accufish and chirp. Also when I do decide to upgrade the transducer which would be your recommendation for deep bottom fishing 800-1500 feet. Chirp no chirp? I would be needing a thru hull type. Any advice would be appreciated.

If it has the 10 pin Furuno Connector it should plug right in and work just like it did with the GP1850. Just to set it up as CW and 1KW.
Going forward there are several different options for through hull bottom discrimination XDR's that can be seen in the product page https://furunousa.com/en/support/FCV800

What are your thoughts on the effectiveness of chirp when fishing in 1000’plus. Is it worth buying a new chirp xducer. Thanks for the response.

ztugdriver,

Your B258 Transducer with it's 1 kW of power and utilizing a fixed frequency of 50/200 kHz (Conventional Wave), should provide a depth performance of 2200 ft (647 m) on the Low Frequency side, and 1000 ft (294 m) for the High Frequency side.

You can set the transducer setting to a CA50/200-1T. That's a close match to the the B258, just keep in mind that it will not provide you with any Bottom Discrimination or ACCU-Fish capabilities. I'd still give this transducer a try before switching over to another transducer.
