Gemeco 10 conductor splice kit

I had to cut cable for my 526 hdd tid transducer to my Fcv 588. I’ve purchased a gemeco inline connector. My question is the bare wires. Do they have to correspond exactly thru the connector. Kind of hard to tell exactly which bare wire is which on the to cables to be connected. I only count nine wires on the cable but connector
Had ten pin plug. Any insight to connecting these wires together would be helpful thanks Neal

Yes, you want the proper shield going to the proper place. If you strip the jacket back a little you should be able to identify which shields went with with color wire sets. They will be wrapped in or around the foil from each set. There might also be one "overall" shield on the outside of it all.
Only finding nine wires is normal.
