Fusing GP-1971F

I,m preparing to install this unit and I don’t believe I have ever seen a Furuno power cable that didn’t have a fuse. I just read the installation manual and there is no mention of a fuse. Is there some reason I shouldn’t fuse this unit? Second question. Is there a difference in the transducer cables from 500/200 to B175HW? I want to use a existing extension cable.

The GP1871F and GP1971F do not come with a fuse on the cable. It is always advised to properly fuse anything powered items based on the voltage you are connecting to.

There would be no difference in wiring in the extension cables. Go ahead and use your existing one assuming it is in good working order.
