Fish finder screen intermittent scrolling on 13XL?

Boat was launched on April 3rd and have made several half day fishing trips with no fish finder problems with the internal sounder on the 13XL. Also get excellent fish detection with B175HW/12 transducer. In the last couple of days, the fish finder screen scrolling starts and stops intermittently. Water temp is about 50 degrees F. Checked transducer cable and connections and these look good. Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Transducer is just over a year old and has been working perfectly since install.

Thanks ...

have you tried to reset echo sounder to default settings ? its on the echo sounder menu. see if that helps you out with your issue.

How many XL displays do you have? If you have more than one, ensure that the fish finder source is set to the correct display. Also, did you try both resets at the bottom of the fish finder menu (hardware and settings to default)?

The bare wire in the power cable and the ground lug on the display...are they both connected to your bonding system (i.e. Dynaplate) or to the negative DC if you don't have a bonding system? If not, please connect them and try it.

I also tried disconnecting the B175HW and connecting the old B60 and it does the same thing so I reconnected the B175HW.

Have you tried a Memory Cache clear and Factory Default (Delete All Settings) in the system menu. If not, backup all your user objects, tracks and settings before doing it. System menu is in Home-Settings-Initial Setup-Service/Self Test/Log, choose Service and OK. Then, once in service mode, touch Utility tab, touch setup next to Factory Reset Setup. Do the Factory Default(Delete All Settings) first, then the Memory Cache Clear second.

The good news is that was not nearly as painful as I thought it would be. First time doing cloud backup/restore. Much easier than the old way. Bad news is it didn’t fix the problem 100%. It is better than it was but screen still stops intermittently and not for as long. Not as bad as it was before. Much more usable as is but not ideal. Running much more consistently now. What would cause this? No settings were changed.

This morning it is back to skipping as much as it was. Very intermittent scrolling.

After it warmed up for about 5 minutes, it appears to be doing better.

If you imported the settings after the Memory Cache clear and Factory Default (Delete All Settings) process, try doing those again. This time don't import the settings right away. Go in and set your TZT chart master to ON (on the chart master display) in Home-Settings-Initial Setup-Chart Master Device. Then, go to Home-Settings-Fish Finder and ensure the correct TZT is the fish finder source and that the B175HW/12 is selected as the transducer (or TD-ID is ok if it chooses that). Try the fish finder to see if it's working. If it is, import the settings and see if it still works.

The fishfinder worked fine until I imported the settings and then the problem returned.

Is there possibly a setting causing this problem that was introduced with the 26.11 update?

I never recommend restoring user settings from a version into a different version due to software changes. I only restore backed up routes and points and then set the machine up fresh after a full USB upgrade.

Now it won’t display anything. Completely frozen.

Now back but still very intermittent
I would perform another memory cache clear and factory default(delete all settings) again and don't reload settings (as @Sparky Wire) mentioned above. See if that helps. If it works, then just manually add your customized settings. You can import user objects, tracks and pbg if you have those.

OK, after a LOT of trial and error, I believe I might have found a bug of sorts. Fishfinder scrolls perfectly unless I connect to the internet, then I get intermittent scrolling. If I disconnect from the internet after I get my charts back, the fishfinder goes back to acting properly. This was tough to find because I needed to connect to My Timezero to get my charts back and I never bothered to disconnect. On other trials needed to connect to internet to upload saved settings. Eventually I narrowed it down to enabling wireless. Not sure if you can replicate this behavior or not.

I have seen boats leave the Wi-Fi running where it is trying to look for sources to connect to and it will slow the machine down and cause issues. Never leave Wi-Fi ON unless you are actively connected to something that stays connected and only when needing to exchange data with the cloud or internet. When done getting weather for example, it would be recommended to turn off the Wi-Fi so the system is not eating resources or trying to find sources to connect with. I recall an odd one where a radar would work great out offshore but soon as they near shore (where there are a ton of Wi-Fi sources) the radar would have problems and that turned out to be the captain would download weather in the morning before leaving. As he left the area the Wi-Fi disconnected from the source (loss of signal) and start searching. Offshore it was okay because there was nothing possible to connect with. When he moved into shore and got hit with all the Wi-Fi choices it was looking for the original connection and cause the unit to suffer and get bogged down. I think you are correct sheakx. It is very likely related to leaving the Wi-Fi ON.
