Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to the fish finder. I've been happy so far with it, but I'm wondering if I'm doing everything I should to fine tune it. I troll for salmon up here in SE Alaska at 60 to 120 feet deep. Can someone give me a place to start on the settings I should use to see maximum detail on the fish? Much appreciated!

jmcknight00,
Welcome to the forum. The basic settings for the FCV-585 should Screen advance at 1/1, TX power at 100% and TX rate 10. Beyond that I would use both frequencies. I turn the gain up until I see start seeing clutter, then I add a touch more. Once you start seeing targets in the clutter I will use the Clutter control to reduce the amount of clutter but still leave the targets.

Thanks for the reply, Snips! Should I use the A Scope and/or Accu-fish or does it matter? Also, should I use the market zoom to focus on the range I'm looking for? Thanks again...

jmcknight00,
To me the "A Scope" has little benefit. Down the road maybe ACCU-FISH will help but I wouldn't start with it on. The Mark Zoom may help at certain times but normally I don't use it because you lose half the display.
