FCV 295 with dual transducers

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a B 175 c HW as the HF transducer and a R 109 LM as the second transducer? Would both Low and Med bandwiths be selectable?

Thanks

Speedybunch,
Yes you can do this. However remember that the FCV-295 is blocked out from working in three frequency ranges, 53-65, 111-139 and 171-183khz.

Thank you Snips
I have a 36’ ex racing cat which I'm converting to a fishing boat. I only have enough width at the bottom of the hulls to fit the B or Ss 175 so my problem is what to do next for the deep work. 1500-2000’.
I was thinking to mount the R109 LM on a pole, any thoughts. I would only use it at lower speed. At this stage I will fit a TZ touch 2 chart plotter along with the FCV 295.
Would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thanks again
Speedybunch.

Speedybunch,
If your main style of fishing is deep you might consider using a smaller 600 watt flush mounted transducer for the TZT2 and use both frequencies of the 109LM for the FCV-295.

Speedybunch,
Since the B-270/264W are discontinued there aren't any good plug and play wide HF options for a regular 50/200Khz sounder.

Snips,
My boat builder says he can dig out the coring and glass in a pad to mount a R 111 LH, a slightly different approach on the previous posts!
Do you think that would work?
Most of the fishing is done up to 400’ and deep work to 2000’ about 25% of the time.
My concern is the ability of an in hull transducer to work to these depths?
Thanks again, I’m just trying to get a good solution,
Appreciate your help

Speedybunch,
The R-111LH is an in-hull transducer. My gut feeling is that you will probably see the bottom but not fish at deeper depths. The nice thing about the R-111LH is it can also be pole mounted.

Thanks again Snips,
Do you have any information regarding pole mounting devices or pic’s of, I will fabricate it my self.

Cheers for now

Speedybunch,
Here in the US the only transducers we really ever pole mount are for WASSP systems which tend to be on smaller survey vessels. The WASSP transducer is similar in size a R-111.

Hello again Snips

I still have not got my boat in the water yet so no progress from the previous posts.

I was wondering if it is possible to pole mount a R 109 LH as it looks to me to be simple to fabricate a mount system for that shaped transducer.

If that is possible I would use a S175HW as a second transducer to cover higher speed shallower use.

Any thoughts?

Speedybunch,
That's one way to go.
I assuming you plan to have a switch between the HF side of the R-190LH and the SS175HW.
Another option is to go with a R-109LHW and a SS175H.

I was thinking about using the 175HW with a GP1971 and the 109 with a FCV 295?

A switch would be a good Idea, is that easy to set up or is a switch for the purpose available?

Thanks again

Speedybunch.

Speedybunch,
You can use the 175HW with the GP-1971 as now you will be adding the Chirp component to the mix.
