It looks like the FAP6232 has a 36 foot cable and is connected directly to a terminal board on the processor unit. Can this cable be lengthened? Is it better to buy a FAP6231E and a premade cable of some sort. I haven't measured yet, but I am guessing I will need 45'-50' length.

There shouldn't be any harm in extending the cable on the FAP6232 by an additional 20' provided the connections are isolated from oxidation (solder is best) and wire gage is comparable to the existing to prevent voltage drop.
