I am having serious issues with the FA50 update. i was able to connect using the cmd window i pinged 172.31.1.1 but was unable to update. here are the issue according to chatgpt

  1. Firmware Utility Confusion (nwuppg.exe):
    • The update tool nwuppg.exe appears as a generic “Application” with no .exe extension shown, making it unclear whether it’s the correct executable.
    • Running it directly causes the window to open and close instantly, with no visible progress or messages.
  2. Batch File (.bat) Issues:
    • Furuno’s batch file runs but provides no visible confirmation or feedback.
    • At one point, a command window returned the error:


    • “Windows protected your PC”
      This warning interrupted execution and required manual override.
  3. IP Configuration Conflicts:
    • Initial attempts followed an incorrect IP address setup (172.31.1.2) until it was clarified that Furuno’s instructions specify:
      • PC IP: 172.31.1.100
      • Subnet: 255.255.0.0
    • After configuring this, ping 172.31.1.1 succeeded, confirming basic connectivity to the FA-50.
  4. No Response from FA-50 or Visible Progress:
    • Despite following Furuno’s update instructions and confirming network connection, the FA-50 shows no signs of update activity.
    • No lights, prompts, or messages indicate that the firmware process has started or completed.
Really I cant see the FA50 so i am sure its me but i dont know how to fix it
 
What Windows version do you have? Ensure your computer IP is set to 172.31.1.1. Ensure any firewalls or anti-virus are disabled. Ensure Wi-Fi adapter is disabled. The connection can be direct from PC to FA50 or from PC to HUB to FA50
