What is the advantage to switching from a etr6/10 to a dff1 sonar box? I have p66 transducer. Also how do I get water temp to display on my VX2 screen. I can't seem to find it in the menu to select it. If I do swap boxes will all the exsisting wires just plug right in from the ETR6/10 to the dff1?

The ETR6/10N is known by Furuno USA as the BBFF1 network sounder. The BBFF1 is an analog sounder. The DFF1 is a digital processed sounder. The DFF1 is much better has holding bottom in very shallow waters. Normally the analog units will have problems with depths under 15ft unless you do a lot of playing with the gain settings. The DFF1 is good about tracking the bottom until about 2ft without playing with it. To upgrade to the DFF1, you would need to change out your network cable. You can re-use the power cable and transducer. You should also ensure the Vx2 has newer software so it understands the DFF1.

Thanks for the reply, what net work cable would I need to get to make this happen. I have the newest software available for the unit as it was converted from navonics to cmap 2 years ago and he updated everything then.

You would need a 6pin furuno network cable to an RJ45 for the DFF1.
The most common one used is 000-159-705 (5 meter cross over)

When performing this swap is there any settings in the vx2 that need to be changed? Or is it plug and play as long as the green light is blinking correctly?

As long as you setup the DIP switches of the DFF1 are set for the Vx2, there should be no settings to change in your Vx2. The default IP address is the same as the older BBFF1 (ETR6/10N).
