I apologize if this question has been asked before; I just installed a DST-800MSF transducer and it's within a couple of feet from the tee on my can-buss trunk line. Can I shorten the 6 meter cable and install a Maretron field connector so I don't have to coil up the cable?

Thanks!

Technically modifying the cable can make the warranty come into question. You have to be very careful to make sure the field connector is done correctly. I have seen many a "short" created by not putting it together correctly. The short answer is yes it won't hurt anything to shorten the cable as long as everything is correct. I recommend using it with the long cable in place for your own sanity to know it worked before you start hacking up the cable :-)

Hi Johnny - I'm a avionics tech with a major airline so installing a connector won't be a problem. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an impedance sensitive or 'tuned' cable. I appreciate it sir!
