Adding backup camera to RDP-139/RDP-149 system

I am not sure what camera to buy to get an output that can be displayed on the RDP139 master or networked RDP149 displays. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance,

First off, the older Vx2 system doesn't share video over the network, so any place unit that you wish to view, must have a video input. The RDP139 (NN1) and RDP149 (Vx2) did not come with video inputs. They were an OPTION, so I recommend you check the units to make sure you have the RCA input connection at the back of the unit. This connection (if you have it) uses standard composite video via an RCA jack. The display will only provide a 640x480 image so the image isn't as high res, as newer systems.

Thanks for the info about sharing video over network, does this also apply if the displays are linked with a cat 5 net gear hub with a network sounder ETR-6/10N. Neither unit has the RCA jack feature. Can the RCA option be added to an existing unit? Are the boards still available?

Thanks again

Yes, the video input/interface kits are still available for the 10.4" NavNet 1 and Vx2.
(Part number 008-523-070) These kits can be ordered directly from your Furuno dealer. They can also install them if not doing it yourself. These kits could also be installed at our factory service center in WA state, if you wanted to.

It doesn't matter if your displays are networked or not, video does not flow over the Ethernet. You must wire directly to the unit for which you wish to see the video (if supported by the machine in question).
