Hi there ,

does anyone know at speed i can read with chirp transducer?can i apply 2 transducers at same time in the furuno 1971?

tank you :)

nvieira,

For the GP1971F, you can use either a "CW" 50/200 kHz Dual Frequency Transducer, or a Single Frequency Chirp: 40 to 225 kHz Transducer in 300 Watt, 600 Watt, or 1kW configurations. You must choose to use a CW or Chirp Transducer, but you cannot use both with the GP1971F.

The speed that you can use a GP1971F all depends on where and how the transducer is mounted and what turbulence that transducer is going subjected too. If you have a good water flow over the face of the transducer with no turbulence, then you can potentially get good sounder return echoes at 30 knots.

Deep Blue ,

Tanks!!! i appreciate it ! i will mount one Tm 185 and i will post the feedback .

I have a TM185M paired with my GP1971F - it took a few trips to get the mounting location tuned in. But, after some minor tweaking and some patience, we are able to get solid returns up to about 25 knots. Anything faster than that and the livewell/raw water scoops that are forward of the transducer cause a little too much turbulence.

Overall, very happy with the readings we get with the TM185M.

But, we wanted more. We decided to install a 600w Thru Hull B60 transducer and place it right between the livewell and raw water scoops...then we elected to pair it up to a dedicated fish finder (FCV628) with the sole purpose of reading bottom while underway... This thing is absolutely money for finding new spots offshore while cruising between known locations. This setup consistently reads bottom and finds ARS Christmas tree marks while doing 30+ knots.

Now, we use the B60 on the FCV628 for reading bottom underway and the GP1971F and CHIRP to get a better image of the bottom and fish in the column.

Bottom line, its all about finding clean, undisturbed water for a properly mounted transducer.

I have the GP1971F, Is there a y cable to connect a CW and Chirp Transducer and switch between them? I understand that I cannot run both at the same time but would like to be able to switch between them if possible.

LikeJose,

What you can use is a type of transducer switchbox. This would allow you to connect two different transducers to the switch box, and then connect the switchbox to the GP1971's transducer port.

This is a way you can switch over to the transducer that you want to utilize (either the CW or CHIRP Transducer). However, you would still have to select the transducer model being used in the GP1971's transducer setup menu.

AIRMAR used to make the transducer switchbox 333 AF, but I don't think that it's in production any longer....

Thank you. I have found the Airmar 333 AF online and it has 3-Pin Male connectors to transducer #1 and #2 and 3-pin female transducer to sounder. Will these work on the 1971F or do I have to convert to 10 pin somehow?

I currently have the TM150M and I am looking to add the 525STID-PWD to the boat. I also have a Airmar B60 that is already on the boat but it has a Garmin connector on it. Would love to utilize this one but dont think I can.
Thanks and advise

Never switch transducers while a unit is ON or it will damage the machines that use it. Hopefully you find what you are seeking.

LikeJose,

Yes, you need to switch those three pin connectors over to the 10-pin connectors. Or, you can just switch the transducers manually on the GP1971F every time you want to use a particular transducer for your fishery.

You must create two presets, one for each transducer, with all the fine tuned details that you want, and name them accordingly. Then you can use that box, but make sure power is off when you hit that switch on the box!
