CHIRP Bottom Discrimination?

I’m looking for bottom discrimination (BD) that can be output to TimeZero and I initially thought that BD was limited to continuous wave (CW), looking at the DFF1-UHD I see that it does CHIRP BD with the B265LH and PM265LH.

I understand that neither the DI-FFAMP nor the DFF3-UHD support bottom discrimination (maybe something to do with no BD compatible transducers over 1kw?)

I didn't see any BD compatible transducers in the TZTouchXL operator's manual although the B265LH is listed as a compatible CHIRP & accufish transducer. Is CHIRP BD something that the TZTouchXL or DFF3-UHD may support in the future or is it a hardware limitation?

Bottom discrimination and bottom hardness both are better done with "cw" fixed frequency.
The bottom looks different at different frequencies. When you use chirp you are using a whole bunch of frequencies together. Too many variables changing at once to understand the bottom when all that info is combined. Maybe the exception you found is because it's a LH transducer it can sample a subset of the data it gets essentially picking a cw out of the chirp?

Furuno bottom discrimination is meant for certain depths and certain transducers.

Next step up would be bottom hardness with a FCV295,1150 or another brand sounder from the TZ compatibility list.
