V 3.80 Update and Transducers

I am puzzled by the software update history description for V 3.80. It says:

"New: When a TZT10X/13X/16X built-in Fish Finder is connected to a TZtouch3 MFD or TZT2BB, the new Airmar transducers (SS175L, SS175M, SS175H, SS175HW, M265LH, M265LM, M285HW, and TM260) supported by TZT10X/13X/16X V25.11 can be configured on the TZT9F/12F/16F/19F and TZT2BB. Note that the built-in Fish Finders of TZT9F/12F/16F/19F and TZT2BB do NOT support physically connecting these transducers."

How can this last statement be correct? According to the Airmar literature, an SS175L, SS175M, and SS175H are identical to the B175L, B175M, and B175H transducers. The only difference is whether the housing material is stainless or bronze. I have had B175H and B175L transducers "physically connected" to TZT16F units ever since the TZT3 units were installed five years ago.

Can you please clarify what the impact of V 3.80 would be on transducer compatibility? I don't want to apply the software update and disable my transducers!

For the TZT XL and the TZT3 displays...there is a different list of specific "model numbers" selectable in the software. The TZT3 v3.80 is stating that those specific transducers listed are selectable only on the TZT XL display when using its internal fish finder. IF one happens to have a mixed system with TZT XL and TZT3 displays and have selected the TZT XL as the fish finder source on the TZT3, v3.80 software will allow the selection of those transducers from the TZT3 menu when setting up the TZT XL fish finder.

The last statement is just saying that those specific transducer model numbers are not selectable in the transducer setup menu when using the TZT3's internal fish finder and therefore should not be connected directly to the TZT3 display by themselves. The B175H and B175L have been and still will be selectable in the TZT3 transducer setup with v3.80 software.

Thanks for confirming that I would not lose any capability with the V 3.80 update.

Not sure I follow the logic entirely. If a system included SS175H and SS175L transducers connected directly to a TZT 3, all you need to do is chose B175H or B175L from the TZT3 sounder set up menu and they should work properly since they are exactly the same internally as the SS models.

Furuno Japan just hasn't tested those specific elements in those specific housings (SS vs Bronze), so they haven't added them in the approved list. You are correct that you could simply select the B version for the SS transducers, and it may work just fine. Since it hasn't been "officially" tested by the engineers, they haven't added those specific model numbers to the approved list in the TZT3 menu.
