Which Transducer?

So Cal Fly Guy

I have a 2021 Robalo R200 and just put in a GP-1971 F. I am making an appointment with the local Furuno dealer to install a through hull transducer, but which one? I well do most of my fishing in 30 to 10 feet of water, 50-65 feet max. I'd like to see what type of bottom, water temp, and of course, see the fish clearly. There are a few spots where I want to read the drop off in very deep water, during El Nino years marlin cruise here. Also I fish the oil rigs. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

What style of transducer are you looking for (thru-hull, transom mount, or pocket mount) and when you go "deep" how deep are we talking and what would you say the percentage you spend out in the deep?

In those depths and going with a thru-hull style transducer, it really opens you up to a lot of 600watt and 1kw transducers.

Are you interested in CHIRP or looking for a regular 50/200 frequency transducers? If you're unfamiliar with CHIRP our website gives you a good quick rundown of what CHIRP is and does.

So Cal Fly Guy,

For the size of your boat and the type of fishing that you want to do, I would consider taking a look at the 525STID-MSD 600 Watt 50/200kHz (10-Pin) Bronze Thru-Hull Multi-sensor with High-Speed Fairing Block.

This transducer will provide you with all the fishing performance at the depths you are looking for, while also providing you with ACCU-Fish and Bottom Discrimination features as well...

Any idea of cost for an install? Just curious as the guy I keep talking to at the Furuno dealer keeps saying this to any question I ask, "I'll have to see the boat." I am going to go with the 525STID-MSD 600 Watt 50/200kHz (10-Pin) Bronze Thru-Hull Multi-sensor with High-Speed Fairing Block
