User programmable presets

Here's a recreational fishfinder product question I've been wondering for a while:

For decades products like even the most basic car stereos have allowed users to program a number of custom presets into the device so that with a single button press, the unit is customised for an exact purpose and range of functions. e.g. [Prog 1] [FM97.7] [Volume=6] {Tone=3] etc...; [Prog 2] [FM108.4] [Volume=9] {Tone=7] etc, etc... More importantly, they allow a user to add more than just one set of customisable, pre-programmed presets.

With my 587 I know I can customise everything BUT technically I can really only program my own custom preferences once based on a single change of settings and then make fine tuning adjustments from there. E.G. Select a manual RANGE then SHIFT then, the rest

I would like to be able to press a single button or menu where all of my custom settings appear instantly for a particular water depth for e.g. Program #1. When I press that button or menu again I would like to go to my next lot of pre-programmed settings for Program#2 and so on.

i.e. It memorises the presets you put in

Prog 1>Gain8.2>colur erase 18%>Range60>Shift15>Clutter30...etc
Prog 2>Gain3>colur erase 22%>Range100>Shift40>WhiteLine15...etc
Prog 3>Gain7>TempMarkerON>colur erase 22%>InterferenceMED etc,etc..
Prog 4 - etc,etc

I'm asking only about recreational units because there's a ton of people with small trailer boats that simply don't have the physical console space to accomodate the big ticket units with extra features.

Spooled1,
You listen to FM 97.7 too? I thought I was the only one. But seriously, what you suggested is a good thought, I will pass it along as a feature to consider. Thanks.

Hahahah - Yep!!! Depending on where you live, FM97.7 can be anything you want from a radio station.

A suggestion to add the UPP feature would be fantastic for 2 reasons:
(1) It would allow users to compare settings between a couple of presets and to refine and then save the very best calibrations for a certain fishing situation
(2) When the presets are properly fine tuned for a favourite reef, depth or fishing style, one button press is all a user needs to have a perfectly calibrated tool.
