upgraded charts with better bottom contour

I am in the San Francisco Bay area and would like to know if there are after market bottom contour or bathy charts available which might be somewhat similar to the Garmin G3 vision charts with relief shading. CMOR charts are not yet available for Northern CA. If not similar to these variants, what is the best alternative.

Cmap bathy charts would be the best option in that area for right now. West coast fishing bathy can be purchased (MM3-FNA-024 $100 list) or you get that chart free when you buy the matching C-map Navigation map (MM3-VNA-024 $250 list). No relief charts other than CMOR and that area not available yet as you said.

Does the CMAP chart need to be downloaded onto another device (laptop), then uploaded onto the Furuno chart card?

If you purchased within the last several, any unit shipped from Furuno USA will have a chart card with the maps already on it. (current units have the entire western hemisphere loaded and ready to go) It will only need the unlock code licence entered. If you have an area you wish to see a sample of; I recommend you contact tech support with a Lat/Lon and they can e-mail you some samples of the C-map and Navionics offerings for that area. Some areas are better with one company than the other. (Tech support 410-479-4420 or 360-834-9300)
