Upgraded AIS FA-50 to FA-70 - TX led does not light

Hello all,

I just upgraded the factory installed Furuno AIS FA-50 to FA-70. Everything was straight forward plug-in, except that the FA-70 uses NMEA2000 instead of the Furuno network of the FA-50. I left the Furuno network cable unplugged at both ends.
Everything on the FA-70 is programmed correctly and no errors are shown when using the PC application. The SILENT switch is at TRANSMIT. When I move the switch to SILENT, the FA-70 SILENT blue light turns ON, so the switch works as intended. The FA-70 RX light blinks every so often but the TX light never blinks. All the settings are correct/default as far as I can tell. I can see AIS targets at my TZTL display, but I'm not sure I'm transmitting.

I have not installed the "NavNet Network Sensor Update" as I don't know how to do that. Are there instructions anywhere??? https://www.furunousa.com/-/media/s...are/software/navnet_network_sensor_update.zip

Is the TX light operation normal?
If not, what can be wrong?
How can I confirm I'm transmitting, without asking someone if they can see me?

Thank you!

The table below shows the normal indications: Power - BLUE continuous******* Silent - Extinguished********Error - Extinguished*******RX - Green when receiving other vessel transmissions*************TX Green when transmitting (the rate depends on the vessel speed, every 30 seconds to 3 minutes) The TX light will be off most of the time when sitting still.

I have been in a marina since I installed the FA-70. If it does not transmit the location since I haven't moved, it would explain my situation as I see no green or orange TX light. I have not looked at the TX light from power ON. I assumed that the AIS would resend the position every few seconds regardless if it changed.

The receiving AIS stations must require new data to refresh their information. How often is new/refresh AIS data required or transmitted?

Thank you for the reply.
