Upgrade to TZT3 from Raymarine

Hello all. I will be updating my electronics soon and decided on Furuno TZT3. Hopefully I can fit the 16” display. I have a couple questions. I will add the SCX20 and 24” NXT dome as well. I currently have a Raymarine autopilot and would like to keep it but not opposed to ripping that out as well. Can I match it up to Furuno system? It is NMEA1083/seatalk version. If not can I keep the pump a Raymarine type 1. My boat is a 34’ Mainship Pilot twin engine with SeaStar BA1357ATM ram. Thanks for the help.

Rearmount,
Thank you for your inquiry.
All NavNet TZT3 units come with a multi-conductor pigtail style cable. This cable is already affixed to the unit on one end & has bare wires for completing various connections at the other end. Included within this cable is a NMEA0183 output. The WHITE is TD-A, and the BLUE is TD-B. Within the TZT3 menu you can select between the three versions of NMEA0183 to output (v1.5, v2.0, v3.0) depending on which your Raymarine autopilot can accept. You can also select which specific NMEA0183 sentences you would like to output to the autopilot. In addition to the default sentences that are already set to output you would need to also turn on the output to the RMB and RMC sentences.

I have experience with this on a TZT2, which should be the same as the TZT3 for this case.

Flatline's advice is one way to do it. Another way is getting a Raymarine Seatalk-SeatalkNG converter and putting the autpilot on the NMEA2000 network instead.

If you decide to change to a Furuno AP, your existing pump will work fine with it.

Thanks for the responses. Which autopilot would you recommend? I have read several articles about which one to use. will I need the 700 heading sensor if I have the SCX20 compass?
Thanks again.
