update

As long as you keep the USB in FAT format, you should be able to download and unzip software with a MAC. Then copy to a standard USB and it should work. It won't work if the USB is in apple format.

Can you use a mac to update to the new software?

I have done this quite a few times using a Mac. The key step is to format the SD card or USB stick using the erase function of Disk Utility and selecting the FAT32 format option. Then just follow the instructions for downloading and copying the update files.

If you haven't done it before, you will be surprised by how long it can take. The screen goes dark for quite a while so be sure not to touch the power button and interrupt the update..

My Macbook will not unzip the MANUAL.BIN file.

Furuno support told me the download will not work with mac......

Apparently Furuno also sells the thumb-drive pn: TZ3 SOF-USB (better check my pn before you buy)

I'm putting the update on the back burner for a couple of days. They just opened florida to vaccine 50 and up.....so I'm now working on that for my wife.

I got the V2.01 download on a PCand then to a flash-drive and updated this morning.....seemingly w/o a hitch. I also finished, yesterday, the install of the bbwx4 and subscribed today for fishmap/weather and audio.

So far the audio is good , weather good, tomorrow or the next day I'll get into fish mapping.

I have to say both my wife and I are impressed with tzt3 so far.
