TZXL 16 running B175HW and B175L

Before I purchase a Y connector

1. Is this unit capable of running both transducers at the same time? 2. Can I plug one of them into the sides can port, or do I need the optional Y connector?

Im asking because on the compatibility chart on furuno it looks as if a HW can't be paired with a regular beam. Im not sure why that would be.

Thank you!

Yes. The TZT16X is able to connect B175HW and B175L using the optional y-cable (part number AIR-040-406-10)
If I had 2x TZT16XL units, is there any performance impact running through a Y-cable?

I like to have both sonars appear on the same screen and understand this is only way to achieve it.

I set mine up that way. Ran it today, super good picture. I didn't see any issue. Im unsure if there's another way but I couldn't get the TZXL to give a split screen by selecting B175HW, B175L. I ended up putting in the B275HWL as the transducer type and it worked. I can run dual sonar split screen.

Yes if you want side by side in one window on the display, both transducers have to be driven by the same TZTXL unit. You can use the Y cable if your transducer cables terminate in plugs or if your cables are bare wire, you can use the 12 pin pigtail plug 12 Pin Pigtail. That's what I did to connect B175H and B175L to one MFD. There is no impact on performance from the Y cable or pigtail assuming all the shielding is done properly.
