Snips I have a couple questions.
1. In the manual NATURE OF BOTTOM it says to use long pulse lengths and normal gain. The gain I sorta get but not sure what setting for pulse lengths?

2.What factors are used to decide weather to use 8,16 or 64 colors?

Thank you

Rockshr,
I will answer the easier one first.
For me, my eyes detect very little difference between using 64 or 16 colors. I see more difference between switching between 8 and 16 colors. I use 64 colors, but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter if you use 8, 16 or 64.

Your question on the Nature of the Bottom is a little more difficult. Are you looking at the Bottom Discrimination mode that TZT2 has or just trying to determine soft and hard bottom traits? To this point, what depths of water are you working in and what transducer are you using?

Rockfshr,
If you are working in waters less than 100 feet I would use the strength of the 2/3 echo return (see below) to help determine bottom hardness. If you were in really deep water 600 feet + you may have needed to change the Pulse Length from STD to Long to get a better sea bed return.

Rockfshr,
Sorry for the confusion on this. The TZT2 internal sounder doesn't have a Pulse Length setting. But since the TZT2 can control the FCV-1150, DFF3 and DFF3D those sounder modules have a PL setting.
