TZT2 COMPATIBILITY

Hi,
I am running TZT 14 (with roto dial), DFF1-UHD, DFF3-3D, FCV1150 AND radar on my network.
With the addition of DFF1-3D, I find myself needing another display.
Can I install a new TZT2 12" onto the network, or do you recommend another TZT 14 because of possible compatibility issues?
My preference is to go with a TZT2 12".

You can add a TZTL12F if you wish but you will need to either downgrade the new TZTL12F to version 5 to go with the version 5 of your TZT, or wait a few weeks and upgrade the TZT to v6 to match the new v6 software that will be in your TZTL12F. Because each system is different, you will always need to abide by the most restrictive rule of each series when mixed. Mixed TZT/TZT2 systems work fine and many here on the forum have them.

Can you also please advise whether the cabling is interchangeable between the two units (ie: will the existing cabling to the TZT14 (roto dial) plug into the newer TZT2 12?

I am not sure exactly what you are referring. Do you mean the MCU004 remote keyboard with dial?

Hi Johnny,

Sorry mate, I meant will power plug, etc, from my existing TZT14 plug into the new TZT2 12, or will I have to run new cables, as I would like to place the new TZT2 where the existing flush mounted TZT14 is and move the TZT14 to another area on the dashboard?

The TZT2 uses a smaller power plug than TZT. The TZT uses a large 3 pin when the TZT2 uses a smaller one. The TZT2 will come with the power cable needed. The network cables of the TZT will plug into the TZT2 pigtail cable but do not have the weather proof locking as the back of the TZT has. If retrofitting, you could always cut the weather connection off and install your own metal RJ45 if you wish to take some of the bulk away. You could also conduct a splice of the power cable although using the provided new one as a replacement would be better.

Whilst browsing through some old posts on this forum, I found a post stating that you can't network a TZT2 and FCV1150.
Can you please confirm that if I install a TZT2 on the boat, I won't be able to display FCV1150 soundings on the TZT2?

TZT2 hasn't been compatible with a network connection to the FCV1150. Only the NN3D and TZT have network compatibility. Japan recently opened up support for some new network items like the FAR21x7 radar, so I will ask if 6.21 changes anything for the FCV1150. At this point, I don't think it does.

It has been verified. TZT2 has no compatibility with the FCV1150 via network.
