TZT2 chirp vs Traditional

I have a Fountain 32 which is a stepped hull. I had wanted to go to chirp with DFF1-UHD with the B265LH which is not looking like a feasible option. I mainly bottom fish in 100-300 ft. I am back to determining if a SS264 pair would be better for bottom discrimination or a B175L/H pair connected to DFF1-UHD or a DFF3. Thanks, Kevin

Wfutch,
Sorry I mis-read your PM.
I was thinking you were asking about a PM instead of a B-265, sorry.
The SS264 are not advised for the DFF1-UHD.

For what it's worth, I had a pair of SS264 on my old boat with a DFF1 and found them quite disappointing. Now I have a B175L and H pair and the difference is tremendous. Maybe my experience was not shared by others but I think the SS264 was not one of Airmar's finer moments.

Hey Snips, I have been going through these options for some time now. The B265LH would have to be glassed into the hull with no fairing block. This is quite a large investment and I believe Fountain is against this option as there is no pad/keel for it to be installed on. So there really isn't an option to gain the BD and AF furuno functions on this hull unless I am missing something. This is why I chose the B175 pairs as an option.

Quitsa, From what I understand, the SS264 200kw is identical to the B260 which has been known as an excellent ducer for determining bottom hardness. What are you most impressed by on the B175 pairs?

The level of detail for the bottom and separations of fish targets is much better with the B175H than I saw with the SS264 200Hz. The B175H will show fish holding right near the bottom wellwhen using zoom. It's always possible I had a defective transducer and did not know it because it was functioning. The low frequency side was okay.
