Tzt14 Questions

I recently purchased a boat that has a TZT14 on it. The previous owner must have kept the chart card as I cannot find it. I have two questions.

Will the Unit except my existing Navionics chip? I can’t get it to read this far.

If I download the free raster charts from furuno, how do I get them to install in the unit.

Lastly, the base chart that is on the unit will only allow a small amount of zoom before it’s goes to “over zoom” and provides no chart detail. Is this normal or is there a setting I can adjust to fix?

Thank you!

NO. The TZT read standard SD cards with MM3 mapping. There is a lot of free areas for the USA waters. (NOAA Raster, NOAA Vector, ACE river charts, Sat Photos) You can download those on the Furuno USA website at www.FurunoUSA.com

That is the nice thing; you don't install them. You just unzip them after downloading and put them on a standard SD card. No actions needed for the machine. With the unit off you just insert the card and turn it on. The charts without licence requirements like the NOAA raster will be indexed automatically at boot up and be viewable. No installation steps as far as the MFD is concerned.

Yes normal. The base charts are high level charts to only show general location so you don't have a blank screen. The detail maps are on the card that is kept in the machine.

Thank you! Very helpful. I’m downloading the maps now, just need the standard SD all I have is SdHC.

What about waypoint I assume they transfer the same way. What file type does Furuno accept? I am coming from Garmin technology

You can use SD SDHC SDXC memory cards. Currently sold USA TZT units come with 256gb memory cards with preloaded charts. Yes waypoints are imported via the SD card also.
